Elekta Office Development is situated within a five-acre site surrounded by multiple research buildings and supporting facilities. The new development is host to a five-storey office layout with restaurant and exhibition spaces. The multi-functional facility supports the ongoing research for innovative medical developments and is a global leader in the treatment of Cancer Care.
LDPi’s vision for the project was to reflect the core values of Elekta by creating innovative and contemporary design methods throughout the building. The narrative was to use graphic lines of light to visually represent the continuous medical growth of Cancer Care whilst visually enhancing the interior architecture across all floors. Graphic lines of light were also integrated to articulate steps and vertical circulation to visually link the atrium space with the rest of the floors. Additional functional lighting was integrated to ensure all office requirements were adhered to.
The contemporary lighting scheme is a visual representation of how the ‘workplace’ has evolved through the desire to create more sociable and stimulating environments for workers. This in-turn enhances productivity and social engagement which is fundamental for the wellbeing of society. Through design, we can create spaces.
