World Expo Dubai 2020
A global collaboration of design, innovation and technology brought the first ever Expo to the UAE, and LDPi were honoured to be part of an iconic celebration of world culture that was attended by over 24 million visitors from 178 different countries.
LDPi were the lighting consultants on three distinctive landscape projects across the site; one which circulated the Calatrava-designed Pavilion, another located at the heart of the Jubilee Park, and Al Wasl Plaza.
Jubilee Park was the location of the WET-designed iconic water feature that evolved into an interactive night-time installation. The feature told the narrative of ‘nature’ through an interaction between water, sound, and light through innovative technologies, and has since received worldwide plaudits and become an iconic visual reference for the Expo.
Amongst the visual noise of Expo, the ‘Art Park’, housed within the grounds of the Calatrava-designed Pavilion, provided a sense of visual calm by creating a subtle sense of discovery through low-level and controlled illumination using specific lighting techniques.
