LDPi prepared a concept strategy of external lighting for vehicular and pedestrian circulation, plus exterior illumination of building facades and public urban space for this new city located on island – a first where a lighting strategy had been prepared for a purpose built city.

For the masterplanning study, LDPi provided a strategy for the street lighting. In conjunction, LDPi considered requirements for illumination to gateway bridges as entry/exit to the island and also provided illuminated guidelines for priority buildings and their landscaped surroundings. LDPi lighting approach allowed for human scale illumination, with luminaires at low level physical mounting heights contributing to pedestrian wayfinding requirements.

LDPi also identified within their strategy for the utilisation of the surrounding water to the city’s island thus allowing for the potential of reflections from illuminated buildings and luminaire fixtures which will provide that skyline ‘postcard’ image and a lasting memory for visitors.
